Commitment to Excellence

Striving for success is a trait that is shared by most of the population. We all tend to pursue our goals and dreams in life, yet some of us do so with more drive and speed than others. Have you ever thought why? What does this minority do, what beliefs do they hold, and what can you do to get similar results?

The biggest element to successfully achieving your goals in life, is to create a foundation for change, and that foundation starts with a commitment. A commitment to take the necessary steps, which are occasionally difficult steps and to stay the path, irrespective of what challenges you face.

Are you ready to burn the ships on the beach as Cortez did in the 1500′s?

Here are five easy(?) steps to make a deeper commitment to yourself to achieve excellence in any area of life:

  1. To stretch yourself further that you have.

Discover what you are capable of. If you hear your internal monologue saying “I can’t do that”, then tell yourself “If I can’t, then I MUST!” and do what you previously thought you can’t.

  2. Take on Responsibility and Take Charge!

When you take action, realise that what results you get, whether you get desirable or undesirable results, you are responsible for the outcome. Take note of what outcome you get from the action you take, and if you didn’t get the response you had hoped, take action (in a different way) again. There is no such thing as Failure, only FEEDBACK!

  3. Be Flexible

The person who is most flexible in any situation, controls the situation, so ensure that no matter what challenges life throws at you that you remain flexible, being able to modify your approach, modify your behaviour to ensure you get your desired results.

  4. Be a Team Player

Very few highly successful people achieve their levels of success on their own. Find a group of positive and supportive people, who share in your views and mission, and offer them added value. Give without the thought of receiving and the universe will look after you in return.

  5. Consistently commit to having HIGH ENERGY

If you pretend to have High energy, doesn’t that mean you end up feeling like you have more energy? Having high energy in your body, gives you the resources to take the necessary action to achieve what you want, to get up early and make the most of the day, to overcome obstacles when they present themselves and to capitalise on opportunities. Make a conscious choice to commit to having High Energy in your body and you will be surprised how easily the tiredness and lethargy disappears.
